Artemis 2014 is pleased to present in collaboration with the Taubman Museum, Sam Krisch, (Artemis’s featured cover photographer) to give a presentation at the Taubman Museum on Feb. 5th at 6:30 pm, discussing the state of photography today from iphone images to ink jet printing.

Artemis announces call for art, photography, poetry and literary entries for 2015 arts journal. The deadline is February 15th.
Artemis is an award-winning annual publication dedicated to fostering art and literary excellence in the Blue Ridge mountain region. The 96-page color journal publishes over 80 regional artists and writers. Contributors range from seasoned professionals with many merits, to artists and writers being published for the first time.
Artemis Journal “Je suis Charlie!”
I just returned from Paris last month, where my husband, Jonathan and I went to see the revitalized play, “An American in Paris.” Our dear friend, Garen Scribner, was cast for the play and we went to watch him perform. It was a fantastic play, lots of acting, singing and dancing and a great rewrite of the original script for the 1952 movie staring Gene Kelly.

Poetry reading by Nikki Giovanni will be held May 23rd to celebrate the release of Artemis 2014
Artemis editors will host a live reading by renowned poet, Nikki Giovanni on May 23rd from 6-8 p.m. at the June McBroom Theatre in the Community High School, downtown Roanoke. The event is open to the public with free admission.

Artemis Receives a Grant
Artemis Journal is pleased to announce that they were the recipient of a $1000 Grant from the Community Foundation of the New River Valley. Present for the awards ceremony were students from Blue Ridge High School and Artemis mentors, Jeri Rogers, Editor, Virginia Lepley, design editor of the project. The Grant will be used to purchase a computer for design and layout of the Journal.
