Artemis is pleased to celebrate the arts and poetry with the Taubman Museum featuring Bill White, cover artist for Artemis 2015 who will give a talk along with a poetry reading by Maurice Ferguson, Poet and Literary Editor of Artemis, Barbara Stout, Dr. Al Hagy and Frances Barnhart.

Bill White:
Bill White’s works express his “sense of place”, while in is his studio or out in the landscape, both here and abroad. The works translate sensation and feeling into form. The vigorous, yet considered character of form conveys a lush sense of light and space rooted in his handling of color. He is Professor Emeritus from Hollins University where he taught Drawing, Painting & Contemporary Art History.
His works are included in numerous public & private collections.His works can be seen at the Market Gallery, in downtown Roanoke, VA, The Nelson Gallery in Lexington, VA and at the Warm Springs Gallery in Warm Springs, VA. Bill White’s home and studio is located in Troutville, Va.
Maurice Ferguson, the current literary editor for Artemis read two poems he composed about the process of art. He joined the Artemis poetry group in 1978 and from 1979 to 2001 edited Artemis. His poems have been published in numerous journals and quarterlies, including “Artemis”, Melic Review”, “Samsara Quarterly”, “Inlet”, “Metamorphosis”, Roanoke Review”, “Piedmont Literary Review” and “Foreword Magazine”.
